Toward the Advancement of the JPS
It is a great honor to serve as the President of the Japanese Pharmacological Society (JPS) in 2020–2022. On behalf of the Society I would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to you to become a member of the JPS.
The Japanese Pharmacological Society considers pharmacology as a discipline that integrally covers from basic to clinical application, and actively promotes the following activities in order to establish the identity of pharmacology in the 21st century.
We play a role as an interface between researchers of pharmaceutical industries involved in drug discovery and academic researchers, and we further develop “open innovation activities”.
Through the “Pharmacological Educator Certification System”, which guarantees that the Japanese Pharmacological Society is a member with advanced educational technology in pharmacology, we will provide society with scientists with excellent educational ability in proper use of medicine.
Regarding academic meetings such as annual and regional meetings, we will consider building the web-based online system so that it can respond to various situations and we can manage the academic meetings efficiently.
Since the English journal “Journal of Pharmacological Sciences (JPS)” has reached an extremely high level as an open journal, we will continue to make further efforts to disseminate the information of JPS to all over the world.
Since the Japanese journal “Folia Pharmacologica Japonica” has been highly evaluated as a review journal of drug discovery in Japan, we will disseminate information throughout Japan.
We will strengthen cooperation with academic societies in Japan and overseas. We will develop international partnerships with International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR), Asia Pacific Federation of Pharmacologists (APFP), Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists (ASCEPT) and other pharmacological societies around the world.
